Job Summary
Develop detailed CPM schedules for heavy civil projects across Alternative Delivery and Design-Bid-Build methods, incorporating earthwork, bridges, utilities, and traffic control requirements. Support preconstruction efforts with baseline schedules, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies while facilitating coordination meetings with design partners and field teams. Maintain and analyze weekly and monthly schedules to identify variances, recommend corrective actions, and prepare executive reports, dashboards, and manpower histograms. Conduct Time Impact Analyses for change orders and delay claims, ensuring compliance with DOT specifications and company standards. Provide technical training on Primavera P6 and scheduling best practices to project teams. This full-time, in-office role at Jones Bros. Contractors in Mt. Juliet, TN requires onsite availability and occasional travel to job sites.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work onsite at our Mt. Juliet, TN office Monday through Friday
- Deep understanding of heavy civil construction methods, including: Earthwork, mass grading, rock excavation, Stormwater, sanitary, and waterline utilities, Bridge foundations, substructure & superstructure, Asphalt paving, stabilization, and surfacing, Traffic control planning and phasing
- Demonstrated experience supporting both Alternative Delivery (Design-Build, Progressive DB, CM/GC) and traditional DBB projects
- Expert proficiency in Primavera P6, including resource and cost loading, logic creation, and critical path analysis
- Knowledge of DOT/FHWA specifications, milestones, incentive/disincentive structures, and schedule compliance requirements
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, cross-sections, profiles, MOT plans, and geotechnical reports
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple schedules and priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years of CPM scheduling experience in heavy civil construction
- DOT transportation project experience (highways, bridges, civil infrastructure)
- Experience preparing TIAs, delay analyses, or claims support
- Occasional travel to jobsites, design partner offices, coordination meetings, and company events (5%–10%)
- Ability to walk uneven terrain on active civil construction sites
- Flexible schedule allowing for occasional early mornings, evening work, or weekend responsibilities tied to project deadlines or delivery requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects)
- Familiarity with model-based scheduling or collaborative design tools
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Experience with both Alternative Delivery and traditional Design-Bid-Build projects strongly preferred
- DOT transportation project experience (highways, bridges, civil infrastructure) highly desirable
- Experience preparing TIAs, delay analyses, or claims support preferred
