Construction Safety Manager

Job Summary

Conduct manufacturing and construction jobsite safety inspections, ensure OSHA and Cal/OSHA compliance, and perform accident, incident, and near-miss investigations. Develop corrective action plans, lead toolbox safety meetings, and audit fall protection, confined space, crane, rigging, welding, excavation, and heavy equipment operations. Coach supervisors and employees on safe work practices while preparing safety reports and compliance documentation. Travel 2-3 nights weekly across Southern and Central California and the Southwest for structural steel erection and welded steel water storage tank construction.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction safety experience
  • Experience in heavy construction, industrial construction, structural steel, steel fabrication, manufacturing, or similar industries
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Professional report-writing and computer skills
  • Valid California driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel overnight as required
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, tanks, and elevated work areas
  • OSHA 30 Construction (Required)
  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and structural steel
  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders to elevated work areas and water storage tanks up to approximately 120 feet above ground level while utilizing required fall-protection equipment
  • Must be able to work at heights while wearing personal fall arrest systems
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to safely operate around cranes, forklifts, aerial lifts, heavy equipment, welding operations, and moving machinery
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, elevated work areas, uneven terrain, excavations, and partially completed structures when required
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, high-visibility clothing, safety footwear, respirators, and fall-protection equipment
  • Must be able to maintain sufficient visual acuity, hearing, balance, manual dexterity, and coordination necessary to safely perform assigned duties
  • Must be able to operate Company vehicles and travel throughout assigned territories, including overnight travel as required
  • Must be capable of performing these essential job functions safely and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, workmanship, and safety
  • Must complete a post-offer physical examination (when applicable)
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening
  • Must pass background investigation
  • Must verify employment eligibility
  • Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record for positions requiring Company vehicle operation
