Construction Purchasing Specialist

Job Summary
Construction Purchasing Specialist responsible for verifying accuracy of store-construction orders (fixtures, millwork, equipment, office furniture), developing streamlined ordering processes to ensure on-time deliveries, and identifying cost savings opportunities. The role involves partnering with Space Planning/Plan-O-Grams to align orders with actual POG counts, reviewing CAD plans for accurate orders, managing vendor relations and deliveries, coordinating installation and punch-list completion, and supporting remodel and new store-opening projects. Must excel at analytical tasks, problem-solving, and communicating with stakeholders at multiple levels; requires ability to travel up to 5% and to work flexible hours as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or relevant field of study preferred
- 5+ years’ experience in purchasing or negotiating
- Forecasting, strategic planning and inventory management experience preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience reviewing CAD plans for order placement
- Travel up to 5% as needed
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in purchasing or negotiating
- Forecasting, strategic planning and inventory management experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or relevant field of study preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office experience including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes
