Job Summary

Support the Government Contracting Officer's Representative daily on site safety, permit compliance, and contractor performance monitoring. Manage inspection and office staff, review completed work for technical soundness, and approve daily inspection reports and payment quantities. Prepare change orders for overruns and coordinate with designers on submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with CBP Tactical Infrastructure Design Standards. Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks while presenting program management issues to higher-level officials in CBP, DHS, and other agencies. This full-time, temporary position lasts 18-24 months with 25% travel, located in the Big Bend region of Texas.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • A background in design and or construction management
  • Strong communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to deliver innovative solutions
  • The skill of creative problem solving
  • Experience in project and construction management including planning, acquisition, execution, controlling and closing of projects
  • The ability to pass a background investigation
  • Only U.S. citizens
  • Ability to travel 25% of time
  • Ability to walk or climb to inspection points
  • Mobility, endurance, and the ability to work in varied weather and terrain
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, or humid conditions
  • Ability to maintain focus and precision in inspection tasks
  • Experience in managing simultaneously, multiple projects with independent schedules and budgets

Desired Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Professional Engineering (PE), Engineering Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT) or registered architect (AIA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively solve problems
  • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in managing similar construction projects in size and scope
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Construction management, Infrastructure maintenance and or repair experience, Civil/site design experience
