Construction Project Manager (Starship Launch Pads)

Job Summary

Manage, coordinate, and act as a liaison for construction and maintenance operations at SpaceX launch pads, ensuring vendors meet applicable standards, codes, and governmental approvals. Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and RFP documents; gather proposals from architects and engineers to assign contracts. Oversee full lifecycle improvements to ensure on-time, under-budget delivery while maintaining accurate documentation and safe work site compliance with OSHA requirements. Transition projects into operations and maintenance functions, taking on ad-hoc projects as business needs arise. Provide 24x7 on-call support for emergencies, with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and outdoors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, architecture, or construction management
  • 2+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, construction management, and/or facilities management
  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
  • Willing to support as needed, nights and weekends
  • Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support in emergency situations
  • Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction
  • Physical effort including standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (up to 35 lbs.)
  • Occasional travel may be required based on specific project tasks
  • Willingness to work outdoors
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite tools, project management software, and PDF editor software such as Bluebeam
  • 2+ years of professional experience with facility design software and tools (ex. Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Navisworks)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or Registered Architect
  • 1+ years of professional experience with strategic facilities planning experience
  • 1+ years of professional experience with manufacturing facility experience
  • 1+ years of professional experience with construction cost estimates
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations; ability to mark up and highlight coordination items
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance
  • Ability to independently and effectively manage projects in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment
