Construction Project Manager - Highways

Job Summary

Provide overall project management and leadership for highway and transportation infrastructure construction projects, overseeing all aspects from pre-construction planning through closeout. Manage projects through budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration while serving as the primary liaison between AECOM, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with design documents and safety standards, and coordinate with design teams to resolve technical issues. Prepare project documentation, monitor scope and performance, and support business development activities including proposal preparation. This newly created role requires a P.Eng. or C.Tech. designation and 10+ years of experience managing transportation infrastructure. In-person Day 1 onboarding is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 10 years of relevant experience managing highway, roadway, bridge, or other transportation infrastructure construction projects
  • Technical Diploma + 12 years of equivalent experience
  • High school plus 14 years of relevant experience
  • 2 years of leadership
  • OACETT C.Tech and/or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction contracts and multidisciplinary transportation infrastructure projects
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required
  • In-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location

Desired Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience
  • Experience delivering major municipal, provincial, or transportation infrastructure construction projects in a consulting or owner's representative environment
  • Experience administering construction contracts for MTO, municipal, or other public-sector transportation projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction management, contract administration, scheduling, cost control, quality management, and risk management principles
  • Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, and P3 project delivery models
  • Working knowledge of MTO standards, TAC guidelines, OPSS, OPSD, and applicable transportation design and construction standards
  • Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary project teams and multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong financial management experience, including project forecasting, budgeting, invoicing, and profitability management
