Job Summary
Construction Project Manager responsibilities include overseeing projects from inception to completion, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery and high quality; lead owner/client sales presentations and contract negotiations; oversee design development, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and financial management including job cost, AR, and budget tracking; coordinate with field teams to ensure safety and quality; supervise and mentor project staff such as Project Engineers and Assistant/Junior Project Managers; prepare bid documents, negotiate and award subcontracts, track progress, and manage closeout activities including cost analysis, punch lists, and fee collection; preferred focus areas include Industrial Warehouses and Multifamily projects (e.g., $50M projects); requires strong communication and leadership, knowledge of MS Project, and experience managing projects from $10M to $100M. The role is based in La Jolla, CA with on-site responsibilities, and involves collaboration with owners/clients, subcontractors, internal accounting, and the construction management team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience for Project Manager 1
- 10+ years of experience for Senior Project Manager
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project and other project management tools
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, estimating, scheduling, cost control, and material pricing
- Proven ability to manage commercial, light industrial, and public-sector projects
- Effective communication and leadership skills to engage with superintendents, subcontractors, clients, and team members
