Construction Project Engineer | Commercial GC

Job Summary

Support technical execution and management of commercial construction projects from conception through completion by coordinating daily with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, architects, vendors, clients, and field teams. Interpret blueprints, structural drawings, specifications, and plan sets to identify constructability concerns, design conflicts, and technical discrepancies. Manage RFIs, submittals, change proposals, owner change orders, and subcontractor change orders while assisting with project budgets, cost tracking, monthly projections, client billings, and invoice review. Create and update project schedules, review subcontractor proposals, and coordinate vendor procurement. Prepare detailed meeting minutes, participate in onsite meetings with stakeholders, and lead quality-control activities, punch-list completion, and project closeout processes. Mentor junior Project Engineers and assist with training, delegation, and review of project documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 Years of Related Commercial Construction Experience
  • Strong Experience Supporting Commercial Construction Projects from Preconstruction Through Closeout
  • Advanced Ability to Read and Interpret Blueprints, Structural Drawings, Specifications, and Plan Sets
  • Experience Managing RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders, Change Proposals, and Project Documentation
  • Experience Coordinating Subcontractors, Vendors, Architects, Clients, Project Managers, and Field Teams
  • Experience Supporting Project Budgets, Cost Tracking, Forecasting, Client Billings, and Invoice Review
  • Experience Supporting Project Scheduling and Construction Procurement
  • Strong Knowledge of Commercial Construction Materials, Processes, Terminology, and Equipment
  • Advanced Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project Skills
  • Advanced Bluebeam Experience
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Ability to Manage Multiple Priorities Independently with Minimal Oversight
  • Strong Technical Judgment, Problem-Solving, Negotiation, and Risk-Mitigation Skills
  • Ability to Mentor Junior Project Engineers and Review Project Documentation
  • Ability to Travel Regularly to Active Construction Jobsites
  • Ability to Occasionally Lift and/or Move Up to 25 Pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Related Education
  • Equivalent Field Experience
  • Viewpoint and/or AIA Construction Software Experience
