Construction Professional and Technical Author (Procedures)

Construction Professional with knowledge of the building standards system sought to develop and maintain policies, guidance and legislation for Scotland’s building standards. The role involves working across the Building Standards division to strengthen the system, liaising with Local Authority Building Standards Scotland and the Scottish Building Standards Hub, leading workforce data collection, coordinating competency assessments, addressing Grenfell Inquiry recommendations on product regulation, administering statutory casework (Relaxation and Ministerial Views), delivering research specifications and public consultations on legislative change, and preparing briefing materials for Ministers and Scottish Government partners. Frequent collaboration with local authorities, external construction-sector partners, and policy colleagues to ensure buildings are safe, sustainable, and energy efficient.
