Job Summary
Construction Materials Testing Technician III in Atlanta, GA performing field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation construction projects. Responsibilities include testing soils and concrete per ASTM and project specifications, sampling and testing of masonry and grout, density testing using nuclear gauge and sand cone, foundation and reinforced concrete inspections, erosion control inspections, preparing daily field reports and density calculations, interpreting project plans, and ensuring safety and compliance while interfacing with client representatives. Certifications and qualifications include ACI Field Level I, NPDES Red Card, ICC Soils or equivalent, ICC Reinforced Concrete or equivalent, ICC Masonry or equivalent, Troxler or equivalent, plus the ability to evaluate soil subgrade, read grading drawings, and meet basic reporting and Excel skills; high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required, with physical ability and background checks as part of the role.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years Construction Materials Testing experience either on commercial/industrial construction projects with emphasis on Soils and concrete.
- ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)
- NPDES Red Card
- ICC Soils or Equivalent
- ICC Reinforced Concrete or Equivalent
- ICC Masonry or Equivalent
- Troxler or equivalent certification
- Ability to evaluate soil subgrade prior to placement of fill and perform standard soil Proctor and moisture checks
- Ability to read and understand site grading drawings
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Good driving History
- Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
- Ability to prepare reports and documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Recent graduate with Associates or BS in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management
- Fluent in Spanish, Japanese, or Korean
- Working towards BS in the above or BS in Civil Engineering.
- ICC Fire, ICC Bolting, ICC Steel
- Pre &/or Post-Tensioned Concrete Certification
- IBC Commercial Building Inspector Certification
