Job Summary
Construction Materials Testing/Geotechnical Staff Engineer to apply standard engineering techniques to provide construction materials testing and geotechnical services under the supervision of experienced engineers. This role includes field investigations and subsurface investigations, engineering analysis and calculations, design and development of plans and specifications, and the preparation and review of reports. Responsibilities also cover field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials, site visits across the service area, supervising engineering technicians and drill crews, ensuring timely reports and billing accuracy, maintaining excellent client relations, and contributing to needs of the Project Manager. Requires collaboration with engineers, technicians, drill crews, inspectors, sub-consultants, and contractors, and active participation in multiple deadlines. Must be able to travel to job sites and work in various environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technologies, or a related field
- Entry level position with typically 0-4 years of experience
- May have E.I.T.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent people and customer service skills
- Ability to work in an independent or team environment
- Self-motivated and performance driven
- Highly organized
- Willing to participate in and pass pre-employment screening including background investigation, drug screening and driving record
- Ability to frequently drive to and from job sites and occasional overnight travel (<35%)
- Valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outside in varying temperatures
- Ability to work in environments containing dust and fumes
