Job Summary
Construction Materials Technician I, II, or III is responsible for conducting field or laboratory testing, sampling, and/or inspection services on construction materials. Responsibilities include coordinating with dispatchers and project leads, meeting with contractors and engineer/architect representatives at project sites, following safety protocols for field equipment and nuclear gauges, communicating progress and delays to supervision, submitting accurate daily testing/inspection reports, and driving company vehicles to job sites. Qualifications vary by level, from a Training role requiring a high school diploma or GED and no experience, to Technician I requiring at least 6 months of experience and initial certifications, Technician II requiring 1 year of experience and multiple certifications, and Technician III requiring 3 years of experience and 3+ certifications. Certifications may include ACI, NICET, TXDOT, ICC, PTI, or other approved credentials. The role emphasizes math literacy, accurate reporting, safety, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions; physical requirements include lifting up to 70 pounds and subject to exposure to hazardous materials and heavy equipment. This is an on-site role based in Beaumont, TX, and may require flexible hours to meet client needs. EOE/Disabled/Veteran.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required for Construction Materials Technician in Training
- No experience necessary for Technician in Training
- 6 months of experience for Technician I and 1+ year for Technician II and 3+ years for Technician III
- 2+ industry certifications for Technician II
- 3+ industry certifications for Technician III
- Relevant industry certifications (ACI, NICET, TXDOT, ICC, PTI, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and insurability
- Ability to perform unit conversions and read instructions
- Strong communication skills
- Safety-mindedness and ability to follow safety procedures
- Physical ability to perform outdoor field work, lift up to 70 pounds
- Occasional protracted or irregular hours
- On-site work environment with exposure to construction sites
