Construction Materials Field Technician

Job Summary
Perform routine field and laboratory tests and inspections to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications. Monitor, observe, and sample materials used in construction work, including backfilling of subgrades, reinforcing installation, fresh concrete sampling, base stone, and asphalt densities. Follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and prepare daily reports and data sheets while maintaining cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, and contractors. Operate with close to moderate supervision in outdoor environments requiring stamina and the ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. A high school diploma is required with a preference for one year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt, or ACI Concrete certification which we will pay for.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing
- Good driving record
- Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs
- Sufficient stamina to work in outdoor (hot & cold) environment
- Subject to a pre-employment drug and motor vehicle record check
Desired Qualifications
- College coursework or degree
- Emphasis in physical sciences and/or math
- ACI Concrete certification
- 1 year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt
