Job Summary
Construction Materials Engineering Technician responsible for field testing and observations of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials, preparing for fieldwork by understanding project specifications, documenting test results using Metafield®, maintaining and calibrating equipment, ensuring IBC/code compliance, and coordinating with project teams. Role includes a company vehicle for field testing, potential for additional certifications, and travel requirements up to 60% with occasional overtime; involves outdoor work, lifting 40-50lbs, and working outside normal hours.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction testing/inspecting soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
- Active certifications from: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician; International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils); plus additional active industry-related certifications (e.g., ACI Concrete Special Inspector; ACI Masonry Field Testing; ACI Flatwork Technician; TDOT: Roadway Technician; Batch Plant Testing Technician; AWS: CWI; ASNT Level III in VT/MT/PT/RT/UT); effective communication in English; basic math skills; willingness for travel up to 60%; ability to work outdoors; lifting 40-50lbs; non-standard hours including early mornings and some Saturdays.
