Job Summary
Construction Manager for Woodsmith responsible for planning, executing and evaluating all construction scope on site to meet regulatory requirements, technical specifications, schedule and budget. Oversees safety and environment culture, prepares construction plans, monitors progress, ensures readiness and planning adherence, and conducts risk assessments. Manages recruitment and development of superintendents, supervisors, shift managers and operators; enforces SOPs, permits and JHAs; conducts health and safety inspections; contributes to lessons learned and updates forecast schedules; ensures effective coordination with construction contractors and a 24/7 emergency response readiness. Requires a Degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mining Engineering or similar, plus formal supervisory training and at least 10 years of senior construction management experience in a mining or shaft-sinking context; familiarity with UK mining regulations; strong leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or similar
- HNC/HND in relevant discipline
- recognised supervisory or management training in accordance with the National Occupational Standards
- A minimum of 10 years in Senior construction management positions preferably in Shaft sinking or Mining environment
- Experience managing sites within a highly regulated environment
- Knowledge of the 2014 UK Mining Regulations, how they are interpreted and applied
- Ability to interpret construction schedules to identify inefficiencies, sequence improvement and construction risk
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with construction teams and contractors
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
