Construction Manager - Fed

Job Summary
Oversee construction efforts at federal project sites in downtown Washington, DC. Independently apply advanced techniques to complex assignments; support Project Managers and position to advance to a Project Manager role. Develop solutions to unanticipated construction problems to prevent schedule delays; review contractor submittals for contract conformance; monitor construction schedule progress; proactively mitigate cost, quality, or schedule impacts. Output: Professional advisor on all construction related matters. Responsibilities include coordinating with customers to establish requirements, conducting design reviews, reviewing Design Intent Drawings and Construction Drawings for scope and constructability, performing value engineering, participating in weekly progress meetings, preparing government cost estimates, scopes of work, project schedules and budgets, responding to RFIs, and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years construction management experience
- Four-year degree in construction management, engineering or related field or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience
- Team-player, proactive, self-starter attitude
- Ability to read drawings
- Communicate professionally and efficiently verbally and in writing
- Develop weekly reports and progress reports, both internally and to the client
- Physical ability to climb ladders and navigate construction sites unaided
- Federal experience preferred, particularly with GSA
- Independent and autonomous work style with limited management input
- Strong attention to detail
- Understand and develop construction schedules
- Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Project
- Understand and develop detailed Scopes of Work for design and construction projects
- Physical and Environmental Demands - various site activities
