Job Summary

Construction Manager - Expression of Interest role overseeing and coordinating field construction inspection activities for road, highway, and bridge projects as the owner's representative. Responsible for planning, scheduling, supervising construction activities, maintaining positive relationships with engineers, contractors, subconsultants, clients, and the traveling public, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance, safety standards, and contract requirements. Produces accurate daily progress and cost/budget reports, reviews contractor work for conformity with contracts and specs, recommends approvals or rejections for payments, tracks expenditures, and ensures adherence to federal/state procedures. Manages schedules with software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera, calculates quantities and costs for project phases, maintains documentation for design decisions and change orders, and communicates project-related details to clients. Requires strong coordination, reporting, and decision-making skills with travel to various job sites (Colorado/western U.S.). Preferred qualifications include prior DOT/FHWA project management or inspection experience, a Professional Engineer license, and construction materials testing experience.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience including the management of transportation construction projects.
  • Must possess a demonstrated ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and maintain attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Must possess the ability to manage a staff of professionals and direct their efficient utilization on projects.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications for position.
  • Must meet internal requirements for operation of company vehicles throughout duration of employment and must maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to job sites, sometimes for extended periods. Job sites may be located throughout Colorado or in western U.S.
  • Working knowledge of general design principles, safety and labor laws and requirements, quality control and quality assurance principles.
  • Current Professional Engineer license.
  • Construction materials testing experience.
