Job Summary
Conduct construction inspections and supervise project implementation for complex, multi-discipline programs across the Southeast Florida region. Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and local building codes while monitoring field activities, quality control, and material testing. Prepare daily reports, field investigation documents, and status updates for the owner, funding agencies, and shareholders. Provide high-level communication regarding issues, objectives, and performance to clients and management. Maintain a safe working environment and manage subcontractor operations with flexibility for day or night shifts, weekends, and extended out-of-town assignments.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of 15+ years' experience inspecting construction projects
- Vertical (building) experience
- Experience with DOT and FAA construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications
- Working knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, ordinances, codes and regulations governing airport operations
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Solid understanding of complex construction means and methods
- Ability to handle basic geometric mathematical calculations involving linear distances, areas, and volumes
- Good written and communication skills
- Reasonable computer skills and literacy in MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel
- Proficiency in Procore or other Construction Management software
- Ability to read and understand contract documents
- Valid drivers' license
- Maintenance of satisfactory driving record
- Ability to obtain security clearance for air operations badging and Customs Border Protection (CBP) access
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of clients, management, and employees
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately
- Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary
- Knowledge of engineering and construction practices and principles
- Knowledge of safety construction practices and principles
- Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Able and available to support work requirements based on day or night shifts and/or flexible schedules, including weekends as required, to support the project requirements, sometimes with little or no advanced notice
- Ability to utilize proper personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves, sleeves, leather protectors, hard hats, safety vests, safety glasses and shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, covers, helmets/hoods, and any additional tools required for the task at hand
Desired Qualifications
- College education in engineering, architecture, or construction management
- Inspection certifications
- Preference for airport and aviation related vertical projects such as hangars and terminals
