Job Summary

Associate Teaching Professor/Associate Professor of Practice and Program Director of Construction Management at Sacred Heart University. Primary responsibilities include fostering industry partnerships to support internships and workforce development, developing and updating construction management course materials, teaching undergraduate construction management courses, maintaining engagement with the construction industry and professional organizations, advising and mentoring students, supporting ACCE accreditation and program assessment, participating in curriculum development and program enhancement, and contributing to departmental and university service. The role emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning, collaboration with faculty and industry partners, and maintaining a regular teaching load of 24 credits per academic year. Minimum qualifications include a PhD in a related field (preferred) or a master’s degree with significant industry experience, strong teaching ability, and excellent communication; preferred qualifications include professional licensure/certifications (PE, CCM, DBIA, PMP) and prior collegiate teaching. Anticipated start date Fall 2026; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related field preferred
  • Master's degree in a relevant field and at least 10 years of significant full-time industry experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated evidence of strong industry connections
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and student-centered learning
  • Ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate construction management courses
  • Commitment to a highly interactive, student-centered learning environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Preferred: professional licensure or certifications (PE, CCM, DBIA, PMP) and experience with ACCE accreditation, industry partnerships, and experiential learning initiatives
