Job Summary
Construction/Maintenance Administrator I plans, coordinates, and directs activities related to construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of state-owned or state-leased buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment. Responsibilities include managing and supervising construction/maintenance technicians and licensed trades specialists (and/or overseeing contracted crews), preparing cost estimates, evaluating bids, ensuring code compliance, developing budgets and policies, scheduling work, and reporting on activities. Knowledge across building trades, state contracting, building codes, and maintenance planning is required; travel may be involved. The role may involve supervising staff, working with contracted personnel, and ensuring upkeep across multiple buildings or a defined geographic area.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of experience in skilled building trades or maintenance work involving construction, maintenance, alteration and/or repair of buildings, grounds and utilities, including two years of supervising contractors in one of the listed fields; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of college or technical school training for each year of the required non-supervisory experience.
- Ability to analyze maintenance needs, set priorities for crews, communicate effectively in writing and orally, and maintain effective working relationships.
