Job Summary
Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods, and materials for the Wallops Island Causeway Bridge reconstruction project. Determine the acceptability of contractor work per project plans, specifications, and industry standards by reviewing daily reports, verifying conformance with the Quality Control Plan, and measuring placed materials. Execute sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement while performing takeoffs to verify required quantities. Maintain the daily project diary and complete Inspector's Daily Reports (IDR). This role requires Level II or III certification, extensive bridge construction experience, and availability for night or weekend work.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in bridge and highway construction, including traffic control, erosion control, precast segmental bridge erection, balanced cantilever construction, post-tensioning system installation, tendon grouting, and drilled shaft construction
- Quality assurance experience in casting segmental bridge sections
- Familiarity with FHWA and State bridge and highway construction standards and specifications
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline or NICET Certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Adobe
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have valid driving license and reliable vehicle
- Availability to accommodate night or weekend work if necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Stormwater Management and Erosion and Sediment Control related certifications
