Job Summary
Inspect heavy highway, bridge, and road projects to ensure contractors comply with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations. Conduct daily site inspections of paving, drainage, and structural elements while monitoring work zones for proper safety measures and MPT compliance. Prepare daily inspection reports, maintain logs of materials and project progress, and document workforce or equipment quantities. Assist Resident Engineers in processing submittals, tracking pay items, and approving monthly estimates of completed work. Requires 3+ years of heavy highway construction experience, NICET II certification, and familiarity with New Jersey DOT standards. Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Heavy Highway construction
- NICET II and above
- ACI Field Grade I
- NJSAT (New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technologists)
- Rutgers TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator)
- Ability to read complex blueprints
- Strong written communication
- Familiarity with agency electronic record systems (Site Manager, CapEx)
- Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation or New Jersey Turnpike Authority standards
- Reliable personal vehicle for travel to-from and on job site
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Efficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook
