Job Summary

Construction Inspector on a USCG runway recapitalization project at Elizabeth City, NC. Provide on-site inspection and surveillance of all construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents; review, comment on, and sign daily reports; attend pre-construction and progress meetings; review contracts, schedules, and changes; monitor submittals and testing; maintain detailed project records (diaries, logs, weekly reports); verify quantities, payments, and payrolls; document progress with photos; monitor safety and report violations; assist with inspections, punch lists, and project closeout; prepare weekly progress reports; have extensive construction knowledge (civil/electrical), read drawings/specs, ensure codes and safety requirements are met; English and Spanish fluency; ability to work independently on-site; strong communication with government team and contractors.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience as a Construction Inspector, contractor superintendent, or quality control manager, OR at least 5 years of construction experience plus one of: a 4-year Engineering degree or PE license or PMP certification or QA/QC certification (earned within the last 10 years and current)
  • Experience on Federal Government construction projects within the last 10 years
  • Experience as a Construction Inspector on a U.S. Coast Guard project within the last 10 years
  • Experience on airfield-related or similar construction projects (runways, taxiways, pavement)
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Strong knowledge of construction trades and ability to read contract drawings/specs
  • Ability to perform daily inspections and maintain detailed project records
  • Good documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to coordinate field activities and manage submittals/RFIs/schedules
  • Physical ability to perform site duties and lift up to 50 pounds
