Job Summary
Observe construction work in progress and compare installed conditions against contract drawings and specifications. Track installation of piping systems, pump components, structural elements, and related infrastructure while maintaining detailed daily logs including labor, equipment, quantities installed, and field observations. Identify discrepancies, conflicts, or non-conforming work and escalate as needed. Review incoming materials and equipment for alignment with approved submittals. Participate in field walkthroughs, coordination discussions, and milestone inspections. Monitor adherence to site safety requirements and flag concerns when observed. Interact with contractors and field teams to clarify scope and support issue resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience inspecting civil and/or mechanical construction work in the field
- Familiarity with infrastructure projects involving water systems, utilities, or public works
- Working knowledge of pumps, valves, piping systems, and installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, shop details, and technical documentation
- Clear and consistent documentation skills, including daily reporting
- Comfortable working on active construction sites across multiple locations
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with public agencies such as NYCDEP, MTA, or similar is a plus
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is beneficial but not required
