Job Summary

Inspect new construction, repair, and rehabilitation projects to ensure facilities comply with contract documents and easement requirements. Observe contractor and subcontractor work, advise the Inspection Supervisor on deviations from drawings, and witness material tests such as concrete slump, compression, and soil density. Verify installed materials against approved submittals, generate daily reports on activities and weather, document project photos, and validate monthly estimates. Drive a District vehicle to resolve construction issues during working hours and visit multiple job sites daily, potentially including weekends and off-hours. Requires two years of construction inspection experience, APWA/IBC certification readiness, and proficiency in construction management software.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two (2) years of construction inspection or similar experience
  • Willingness to complete necessary requirements to become APWA CPII Certified and/or IBC/ICC Certified
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Ability to read and understand Pipeline, Utility, and Construction Drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge and ability to read and understand Right-of-Way and Easement Drawings
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and email
  • Ability to effectively work in minimally supervised environment
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations, scale distances from plans, and measure distances on the ground
  • Ability to communicate well with NTMWD team members and all personnel associated with assigned projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, & Construction Management Software
  • Ability to work independently and possess an aptitude for detail
  • Must be available to the Contractor during all working hours for the purpose of resolving issues that may arise concerning the details of construction
  • Must be willing to visit multiple jobsites daily
  • Must be willing to work weekends and off-hours depending on the project
  • Must be willing to carry, drag up to 75 pounds of equipment
