Job Summary
Monitor contractor on-site activities and inspect materials for compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents regarding excavations, drainage, road surfaces, and structures. Take field measurements of pay items, report daily production rates, and schedule inspection phases with the superintendent and agency personnel. Perform on-site material testing, produce as-constructed sketches, and maintain daily reports documenting work activities, labor, equipment, and verified material quantities. Utilize engineering inspection practices for complex mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work. This field role operates primarily in outdoor environments with physical demands including lifting up to 35 lbs and exposure to inclement weather. DOT certifications are required, and the position reports to the Project Manager.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of construction inspection experience
- DOT Certifications in one or more area
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Must be able to lift, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs
- Must be able to stand, move, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, grasp, feel, balance, coordinate, and occasionally sit or operate a company vehicle
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments with exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water
