Job Summary
Construction Estimator with General Contractor experience sought to prepare cost estimates for commercial building projects from drawings and specifications, develop CSI-based cost breakdowns, and publish complete bid packages for trade partners/vendors. Responsibilities include analyzing materials, labor, equipment, and transportation, forecasting project costs, and supporting preconstruction with site visits and budget development. Lead estimating efforts for traditional design-bid-build projects including hard bids and GC fees; mentor interns and junior estimators; collaborate with trade partners, suppliers, clients, and architects; ensure adherence to building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards. Requires at least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), 10+ years in commercial construction, travel ability, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office. 70% office work with site visits as needed; travel and occasional lifts up to 20 pounds; stairs climbing may be required.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least ten years of experience in the commercial construction industry
- Experience estimating projects up to $15M in size in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors
- Ability to manage more than 2 projects simultaneously and balance workload in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in project estimation software, MS Office, and blueprint reading
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites
- Preferred BS Degree in Building Construction Management or similar major
- Ability to travel for pre-bid site visits, trainings, seminars, and meetings
- Demonstrate expanding knowledge of construction details
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Integrity and focus on meeting customer requirements and expectations
