Job Summary
Read and outline project specifications, discuss bid strategies, and define major subcontractors. Direct plans coordinators for vendor pricing using SmartBid, establish work scopes, and conduct pre-bid meetings with operations and subcontractors. Accurately take off CSI Divisions 1-46, price self-performed and subcontracted work on a unit basis, and utilize production data to establish database pricing. Set up bid spreadsheets, review estimates for constructability, and execute bid forms. Monitor plan coverage, solicit new subcontractors, and improve existing relationships. Requires five years of commercial construction estimating experience with projects over $5 million, proficiency in Timberline and OST, and ability to lead full bids. May work onsite at active construction sites.
Required Qualifications
- At least five (5) years of experience as an estimator in Commercial Construction
- Experience with projects over $5 Million
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, technology, and programs within the construction field
- A certain degree of creativity and innovation is required to out plan the competition
- Must be able to lead an estimate and take full charge of a Public Works or Private Client bid
- Must be able to use strategic and innovative methods to obtain sub coverage for bids, especially in new geographic areas
- Proficient in Timberline, OST, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- May be required to work onsite of an active construction project that entails a job trailer setting and typical noises from an active construction project
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with self-performance of concrete and carpentry highly desired
