Construction Estimator - Civil & Fabrication

Job Summary
Prepare project cost estimates for civil dirt, concrete, and structural steel elements by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and drawings. Conduct site walkthroughs and confer with engineers, owners, and subcontractors to formulate bids and adjust estimates. Develop vendor networks, review material requirements for construct versus subcontract decisions, and propose value-engineered bid alternates. Prepare labor, material, and procurement schedules while conducting high-level scope reviews. Analyze historical bid data to improve estimating practices and deliver project turnover packages upon contract award. Work with shops on fabrication methodologies and travel up to 25% of the time for customer visits.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years' work experience in estimating civil grading/concrete work, shop fabrication and structural projects
- Computer experience, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, Outlook, Autocad and Bluebeam
- Ability and willingness to work from a vehicle up to 25% of the time quoting/visiting customers
- Willingness to travel overnight up to 5% of the time
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors during times of inclement weather
- Must be able to remain in a seated position for long periods of time
- Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors during times of inclement weather
- Must be able to remain in a seated position for long periods of time
- Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment
- Ability and willingness to work from a vehicle up to 25% of the time quoting/visiting customers

Desired Qualifications
- Procore experience is preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or a similar field of study is preferred but not required
- Prior experience as a substitute will be considered
