Job Summary
Construction Equipment Operator I operates a range of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment (including front-end loaders, graders, dozers, tractors, backhoes, tandem trucks, tractor-trailer rigs, vectors, and slope mowers) to perform street and drainage maintenance tasks. The role requires possessing a valid CDL (Class A or B depending on department), following safety and maintenance procedures, and potentially taking lead-worker responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor. The position may involve independent or collaborative work, delivering materials/equipment, and performing crew or maintenance tasks under varying conditions and schedules. Required Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL)
- Ability to operate light and heavy construction or maintenance equipment
- Knowledge of gauges, controls, pedals, levers, and switches on equipment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations
- Possession of necessary licenses and certifications prior to operating assigned equipment
- Completion of departmental training programs for equipment operation, maintenance, and safety
