Job Summary
Construction Engineer II (Civil/Structural) provides technical engineering information and supports construction teams across Civil, Concrete, and Structural Steel disciplines. Responsible for managing technical scopes, ensuring conformance with codes and specifications, coordinating RFIs and submittals, preparing Scopes of Work for subcontractors, evaluating change orders, maintaining turnover and completion documentation, and supporting QA/QC, HSE, procurement, and project controls. Requires BS in Engineering (MS preferred), 5+ years of experience, proficiency with PFDs/P&IDs, isometrics, 3D/2D routing, and familiarity with API/AWS/ACI/ASME VIII standards; proficiency with MS Project or Primavera; on-site, full-time in Emporia, VA; authorized to work in the United States.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering required
- MS degree preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification desirable
- 5+ years related engineering experience
- Strong skill set in understanding PFDs and P&IDs; 3D and 2D routing, equipment and piping specifications, and development of isometric drawings
- Knowledge of API, AWS and ACI standards, industry practices and ASME Section VIII is strongly preferred
- Ability to understand client specifications, procurement, commissioning and start-up standards, documentation, practices and vendor data approvals
- Experience using standard computer programs; MS Project or Primavera preferred
- Cooperates with other team members; interacts with individuals at all organizational levels in professional manner
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks under time-sensitive deadlines
