Job Summary
Cost Estimator coordinates people, subcontractors, software, and resources to deliver accurate estimates for projects ranging from defined bids to design-build efforts; maintains bid schedule, aligns estimates with business development and marketing requirements, and assists with transitioning awarded projects into pre-construction. Key tasks include reviewing plans, identifying risks, soliciting pricing, preparing bid documents, performing quantity takeoffs, developing conceptual budgets, reviewing conditions and site logistics, coordinating insurance/bonding, and communicating cost trends. Proficiency with estimating software (SAGE, RS Means, Bluebeam, ONSCREEN Takeoff) and strong math/Office skills are required. Security clearance preferred; U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain clearance; travel minimally as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 5-10 years of industry experience.
- 3–5 years estimating or construction field experience; ideally 5+ years of estimating experience working with a commercial or federal estimating department estimating projects in excess of $2 million dollars.
