Job Summary
Coordinate and monitor assigned engineering and construction projects to support safe, efficient, and timely execution. Assist in developing work scopes, schedules, cost quotations, and readiness plans while receiving and inspecting materials for delivery to laydown yards and project sites. Monitor contractor, vendor, and internal workforce performance to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and MSHA regulations. Track project progress, identify scheduling challenges, and facilitate communication between Project Managers, Engineering, Operations, and external stakeholders. Provide regular status updates, resolve project issues, and maintain accurate field reports and documentation. Work approximately 80% in the field on active construction sites, requiring frequent walking on uneven terrain and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations and maintenance supervision, construction, construction management, project management, or a related industrial environment.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project documentation.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent recordkeeping and documentation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices and quality standards.
- Knowledge of contractor management processes and supply chain controls.
- Ability to identify project risks, scheduling constraints, and construction bottlenecks.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, engineering firms, architects, vendors, and other external partners.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Work approximately 80% in the field and 20% in an office environment.
- Walk frequently on uneven terrain, active construction sites, and mine property.
- Regularly work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and precipitation.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
- Climb ladders and access elevated work areas as needed to inspect project activities.
- Occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in operational and construction areas.
- Work safely around heavy equipment, mobile machinery, contractors, and active construction operations.
- Safely access operational mining, maintenance, and construction work areas.
- Work extended hours or adjusted schedules as needed to support project schedules and operational requirements.
- All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check.
- All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty'.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in construction management, project management, or heavy industrial operations.
- Experience supporting engineering or mining capital projects.
- Knowledge of Engineering Systems for Management or similar project management systems.
- Experience coordinating contractors within mining or heavy industrial environments.
