Job Summary
Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts including JCT, NEC, and design consultancy agreements. Advise clients on procurement strategies, contractual claims, and regulatory compliance under the Construction Act, Building Safety Act, and CDM Regulations. Assist the disputes team with adjudications and litigation while finding commercial solutions to avoid conflicts. Contribute to team growth through articles, external webinars, and internal training sessions, and mentor graduates under Practice Leaders. This role requires an English-qualified lawyer with 1-2 years of PQE in construction matters, based in Manchester with hybrid work arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- English qualified lawyer
- 1-2 years of PQE
- demonstrated local experience in assisting business clients in a variety of construction matters
- experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating JCT and bespoke construction contracts
- experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating NEC contracts
- experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating design consultancy agreements
- experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating subcontractor agreements
- experience in advising clients on contract procurement strategies
- experience in assisting with contractual claims (including changes and extensions of time) and interpretation
- knowledge of the Construction Act
- knowledge of adjudications
- knowledge of the Building Safety Act
- knowledge of the CDM Regulations
- experience in finding commercial solutions for clients to avoid disputes
- experience in providing assistance to our disputes team with construction disputes matters, adjudications and litigation
- at least 2-3 days per week in our welcoming office environment in Ancoats
