Job Summary
Construction Assistant (CA) at GRID Alternatives is an on-site, entry- to intermediate-level role supporting solar installations with crews, including installing racking systems and PV modules, wiring electrical boxes, and assisting with residential/commercial projects. The role involves training and mentoring volunteers, following safety/quality standards, assisting in warehouse logistics, equipment staging, and participating in building inspections and permitting. Requires travel within a 1-2 hour radius of Sacramento, ability to lift up to 70 lbs, outdoor work, valid driver’s license, and a background screen. Preference for NABCEP PV credentials and experience with volunteering or diverse community engagement; bilingual (English/Spanish) and OSHA 10 are desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in PV system installation, troubleshooting, or design (min 3 months)
- Experience with residential and/or commercial scale PV systems
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen
