Job Summary
Assist with residential renovations, new construction, and maintenance projects including framing, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and demolition under supervision. Operate tools safely, maintain clean job sites, and load/unload materials while following project plans and quality standards. Learn multiple trades through hands-on experience, collaborate with staff and contractors, and represent SailFuture professionally across community sites. Serve in Saint Petersburg, Florida, as a hands-on AmeriCorps apprentice focused on building safe housing for disadvantaged youth and supporting educational scholarships.
Required Qualifications
- United States citizen, United States national, or lawful permanent resident
- At least 17 years of age at the start of service
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Not have exceeded the maximum allowable AmeriCorps service terms
- Not be listed on any state or national sex offender registry
- Not have been convicted of murder, as defined in 18 U.S.C. §1111
- Interest in construction, skilled trades, or property renovation
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Positive attitude and commitment to service
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's license
