Construction Accounting Manager

Job Summary

Prepare month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and analyze results for ownership. Manage WIP/CIP reporting, oversee subcontractor lien waivers, and establish KPIs to track performance metrics. Collaborate with project managers to forecast cash flow and audit vendor contract compliance. Serve as primary contact for external accounting firms by preparing workpaper packages for financial statement reviews. Complete special projects as assigned by executive leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
  • 5–7 years of experience in the construction industry, or a combination of construction industry and public accounting experience with a construction focus
  • PC proficiency (Windows environment)
  • strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
  • results-oriented with the ability to work under deadlines
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization, from project teams to executive leadership and ownership
  • Exercises sound judgment and makes decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

  • Maintains a high standard of accuracy and thoroughness in financial reporting, reconciliations, and job cost tracking

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA or CCIFP designation
  • Working knowledge of RealPage Accounting and Job Costing software
  • Understanding of AIA accounting documents such as G702 & G703
  • Understanding of certified payroll and related requirements
  • Understanding of contract change orders and owner change orders
