Construction Accountant

Job Summary
Verify vendor accounts, pay vendors, and resolve invoice discrepancies in an organized, timely manner. Collaborate with co-workers and third-party vendors to gather, analyze, and interpret financial data while maintaining accurate records of ledgers, journals, invoices, receipts, and supply inventory. Assist the accounting department with daily, monthly, and annual activities, including generating financial reports, inputting project budgets, performing account reconciliations, and resolving audit discrepancies. Charge expenses to accounts, manage job costing, prepare Excel spreadsheets, and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers. Manage certificates of insurance for subcontractors and serve as a back-up administrative assistant. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, at least two years of experience in construction accounting, and proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related
- At least 2 years' experience in an accounting adjacent roll within a construction environment
- Advanced competency in accounting and business management software, such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations
- Knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures
- Extensive experience in account reconciliation
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Great time management and organizational skills
- Strong math and research skills
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
