Job Summary
Constructability Engineer to review MassDOT project designs for feasibility, efficiency, and compliance; conduct comprehensive constructability reviews; provide recommendations to optimize designs for cost-effectiveness and ease of construction; lead VE reviews and teams; coordinate with roadway, traffic, structural engineers, planners, and environmental professionals; support construction phase with clarifications, shop drawings, submittals, change orders, and VE implementation; monitor MassDOT standards and FHWA policies; mentor staff and drive lessons learned across projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in construction, constructability review, or infrastructure project management
- 5-10 years of experience designing MassDOT or similar DOT/public works projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts within 6 months of hire
- In-depth understanding of MassDOT construction standards, processes, and specifications
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and equipment
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and scheduling software
- Experience with multidisciplinary design teams in a consulting and/or construction environment
- Familiarity with risk management, VE, and alternative delivery methods
- Experience identifying and mitigating construction project risk
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Flexible, hybrid workplace
