Job Summary

Examine and treat works of art for preservation and restoration using scientific methods, documenting findings through technical studies and writing condition reports for loans, borrowed, acquired, exhibited, and stored items. Oversee section procedures, supplies, and schedules in the Senior Conservator's absence, while advising on environmental controls and coordinating the conservation budget. Couriers works of art, respond to public inquiries, conduct lab tours, and explain conservation procedures. Lectures and publish on conservation findings to stay informed on current literature. Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in conservation
  • seven to ten years of related experience
  • Minimum 4 years of specialized training in an area of expertise in Textiles Conservation
