Conservation Planner

Job Summary

Develop Compatibility Determinations (CDs), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documentation, and Comprehensive Conservation Plans (CCP) using best available science. Coordinate with refuges and regional offices to research, write, and revise planning documents, including hunting and fishing plans, while managing public notice and comment periods. Research, write, and revise planning documents, and shepherd documents through internal and external review and approval processes. Communicate status and ongoing progress with management and leadership. This role supports the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's mission to ensure wildlife-dependent uses are compatible with refuge establishing purposes.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in Natural resources management, biological sciences, planning, or policy
  • Driver's license
  • Experience with Windows
  • Experience with MS Word
  • Experience with MS Excel
  • Experience with MS PowerPoint
  • Experience with MS Teams
  • Experience with MS SharePoint
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat
  • Minimum Age: 55

Desired Qualifications

  • MA/MS preferred with minimum additional experience of 2 year(s) in developing environmental compliance documents, land use management plans, or related documents
