Conservation Planner

Job Summary

Develop Compatibility Determinations (CDs), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documentation, and Endangered Species Act Section 7 consultations. Research, write, and revise planning documents including Comprehensive Conservation Plans and hunting and fishing plans, then coordinate with refuges and regional offices to shepherd these materials through internal and external review processes, public notices, and comment periods. Communicate status and ongoing progress with management and leadership while managing tracking and review procedures. This work involves 80% writing and research, 25% coordination, and 5% communication. The position requires a BA/BS in natural resources or related fields, a driver's license, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, with a 20-hour weekly schedule for a 40-week term.

  • BA/BS Degree in Natural resources management, biological sciences, planning, or policy
  • Driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • MA/MS preferred with minimum additional experience of 2 year(s) in developing environmental compliance documents, land use management plans, or related documents
