Job Summary
Senior Congressional Affairs Contact Officer responsible for full range of congressional liaison activities: controlling, analyzing, researching, and formulating official responses to written and telephonic requests from Members of Congress and congressional committees; coordinating congressional engagements; preparing senior leaders and briefers; synchronizing talking points and messaging; leveraging knowledge of Army Staff processes, laws, regulations, and directives to support Army programs and objectives; requires security clearance (TS/SCI) and relevant Army/OSD staff experience; degree required with preferred master’s in public policy.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a military or civilian staff or action officer on the Army Staff or OSD Staff
- 2+ years of experience as a military or civilian Congressional Affairs Contact Officer (CACO) at Headquarters, Department of the Army or an Army Command, such as 4-Star
- Experience with management of congressionally mandated reports
- Experience orchestrating or coordinating congressional engagements, including preparing senior leaders and briefers, and synchronizing talking points and messaging
- Knowledge of Army Staff and Secretariat organizations, Congressional actions staffing processes, and laws, regulations, and directives and their application to assist in the formulation of official response to Congress
- Ability to perform the full range of Congressional liaison work, including controlling, analyzing, researching, and formulation of official responses to written and telephonic requests from Members of Congress and staffs, and Congressional Committees
- Ability to track Congressional reporting requirements and provide feedback to the staff until the requirement is satisfied
- Bachelor’s degree
