Job Summary
Conduct railcar and train movements by operating track switches, coupling and uncoupling cars, and applying or releasing hand brakes. Relay oral, written, or radio instructions from dispatchers and interpret signals to indicate when to start, stop, back up, or set air brakes. Inspect train and equipment conditions, read train orders and waybills, and prepare daily reports and switch lists. Work in a 24/7 environment with outdoor conditions, holding a valid driver's license. Assists with other projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of work experience
- Ability to work in a 24/7 work environment and in outdoor working conditions
- GED, high school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
- Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Railroad or other relevant industry experience is a plus
