Job Summary
Operates track switches, couples and uncouples cars, and coordinates movements of trains, railcars, and engines in rail yards and on the main railroad. Reads and follows rules, timetables, train orders, and safety instructions; signals crew members using lantern, hand, or radio signals; prepares daily reports and switch lists; inspects equipment; and works in outdoor, 24/7 conditions. Requires ability to operate in yard and mainline movements, with experience in railcar handling and signaling, plus a valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- GED, high school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
- Two years of work experience
- Valid driver’s license
