Job Summary
Conductor role responsible for moving freight safely and efficiently under the supervision of trainers and supervisors. Involves outdoor work in all weather with a physically active daily routine, including climbing on/off equipment, handling rails and railcars, and using hand signals, lanterns, or radios to coordinate movements. Requires following federal/state railway safety regulations, reading rule books, performing safety checks, and maintaining documentation with basic computer tools. Training provided (classroom and hands-on) to establish a long-term career, with opportunities for growth in a safety-sensitive, 24/7 environment that includes nights, holidays, and weekends. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, meet vision requirements, and possess strong communication, situational awareness, and decision-making skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- At least 18 years of age
- Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical review
- Subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screening
- Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history
