Job Summary
Operate locomotives and railroad equipment in freight service in accordance with FRA, AAR, GCOR, ABTH, and company rules. Duties include safe, efficient operation; interpreting train orders and rules; monitoring speed, brakes, and gauges; assessing track conditions and railcar status; signaling and coordinating with crew; assembling/switching trains; providing information on stops and delays; completing daily reports and switch lists; and cross-training in related rail duties. Requires a high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, FRA 240 and 242 certifications, and 2+ years of experience (3+ preferred). Physical requirements include heavy lifting, endurance, vision and hearing standards, and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. The role may involve operating in outdoor environments with exposure to noise, vibrations, dust, and weather, and adherence to safety procedures. Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- FRA 240 and 242 Certification
- Two years of work experience; three years of relevant experience preferred.
