Job Summary
Conductor/engineer position responsible for controlling and coordinating train movements while switching railcars in yards, industrial plants, or similar locations to load/unload railcars safely and efficiently. Must read and interpret switching orders, read/understand signals, and follow railroad rules; supervise train crews; operate locomotive (throttle, air brakes) and align tracks; communicate via radio and via manager/customer instructions; maintain records of cars and cargo; participate in training and development programs through Watco University; ability to learn from directions, observations, and mistakes and apply procedures with sound judgment; role may involve coordinating with dispatchers and other yard workers and performing related duties as needed.
