Job Summary
Assist the teacher with planning, preparation and delivery of a quality instructional program for students with diverse learning needs; supervise students in recess, cafeteria, library, bus assistance, and crossing guard duties before/after school; support implementation of special education services (e.g., IEP goals, medical assistance, personal care); administer tests, track progress, monitor behavior, and provide classroom assistance and data entry; facilitate safe, positive learning environments and coordinate with staff to address individual educational growth goals. Ensure physical assistance for students with special needs and proper lifting techniques as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Washington State Early Childhood Education (ECE) Initial Certificate or higher
- Current experience working with preschoolers
- Portable Background Check (prior to hire)
- Education/Certification: Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Meet one of the following requirements: Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university, or Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council, or Received a passing score on one of the following PESB approved assessments: ETS ParaPro Assessment, Pearson’s Paraprofessional Assessment, The Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.
- Experience: Job related experience desired.
