Job Summary
Perform vehicle inspections to assess overall condition in support of processing and selling client vehicles in the lane and online. Verify identification, update vehicle information including year, make, model, and trim lines, and inspect equipment, options, interior, tires, and mechanical components. Document and estimate damages, review odometer data, and assess frame and unibody condition. Take photographs as needed to support reports or sales days, and move vehicles throughout the lot to designated areas. Work outside in any weather conditions with minimal supervision, requiring a valid driver's license and ability to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Safe driving record
- Ability to drive a manual and automatic transmission
- Must be able and willing to be underneath vehicles to do visual frame inspection
- Must be detail oriented
- Able to work outside in any weather conditions
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb
- Must be able to follow through on tasks to completion
- Able to communicate well both in person and in writing
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to prioritize duties
Desired Qualifications
- iPad
- Post high school training in damage assessment
- Background in automotive repair cost estimating
- Ability to learn job specific computer programs
- Able to digitally photograph vehicles and upload photos to computer
- Ability to write reports in a professional manner
- Basic knowledge of vehicles
- Ability to utilize standardized lists to assign costs for damage
